Amy Sue Leavens, Esq., the founder and President of Concierge Legal, is a corporate attorney with more than 20 years of experience as an advisor to executive officers and boards of directors in for-profit and non-profit environments. Ms. Leavens has substantial experience within in-house legal departments managing cross-functional teams comprised of multiple business units and attorneys on large-scale mission critical projects, and within law firms as a manager of public and private, domestic and international, multi-party business transactions. She has unique experience implementing government-sponsored, tax-advantaged business initiatives.
Ms. Leavens most recently served as the General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary of Capital Impact Partners, a Congressionally-chartered non-profit corporation and certified Community Development Financial Institution where she was responsible for overseeing all legal, governance, compliance and contract management matters involving the parent corporation, multiple debt and equity funds, and more than 40 special purpose entities engaged in nationwide commercial lending to developers in the education, affordable housing, health care and food industries. She was an integral member of the executive management team reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors, and was involved in all aspects of the strategic planning of an enterprise with investments of approximately $3 Billion nationwide, offices in 5 states and approximately 90 employees. Ms. Leavens led $2 Billion in capital markets transactions to fund the operations of the business, including the company’s first private equity fund, first public debt offering, and admission as a member to the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta. She also supervised the reorganization and implementation of business processes involving more than 80 separate counterparties and approximately 250 grants and contracts.
Prior to assuming an executive role at Capital Impact, Ms. Leavens served as an Associate General Counsel and Director at Fannie Mae, and worked as a corporate attorney at a global law firm.
Ms. Leavens is licensed to practice law in California, Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Pennsylvania.
Ms. Leavens was honored in 2015 as one of Washington, D.C.’s Top Corporate Counsel by Bisnow and the Association of Corporate Counsel, nominated in 2014 for the Association of Corporate Counsel (WMACCA) Outstanding Chief Legal Officer Award and was the recipient of WMACCA’s 2014 Community Service Award.
